Benefits of Horseback Riding:

Horseback riding has been widely recognized as one of the most beneficial forms of therapeutic recreation.

Any person meeting the following criteria may be eligible:

  1. Completed EEU Physician’s Referral Form.
  2. Completed EEU Parent/Legal Guardian consent form.
  3. Weigh less than 185 pounds to ride.
    (Individuals unable to ride may participate in classes dealing with the care and management of the horses with unmounted/ground lessons.)

Examples of special needs or disabilities include:

  • Amputees

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
  • Emotional Impairment
  • Head Trauma
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Learning Disabilities
